We Beheld His Glory!

Jesus's hidden identity,
revealed in John's Gospel

A DEEP WELL OF JOY!

The wonder of the incarnation - the lifegiving Word of God revealed as the man Christ Jesus - was what sustained John's joy throughout his long life.Despite most of his fellow Jews rejecting Jesus, and the rise of heresies denying either His true manhood or true divinity, as John meditated on Christ's glory his insight and joy just grew and grew.

For John, communion with Christ and His Father was the essence of eternal life, and the natural result of union with Him.  Of the gospels, only John records Jesus's teaching about this in the Upper Room - though it underpins all Paul's teaching about being in Christ.

'We Beheld His Glory' is a devotional commentary on John's Gospel which brings out this message. To find out more, and order a copy, click on the menu above.  It's available in print or as an e-book.

Alternatively you can access a free blog of notes on John's Gospel.  It contains much of the material from the book, including cultural, geographical and expository insights: but has less about the revelation of Jesus's identity.

John's First Letter was written a few years later, to churches being torn apart by heresies challenging the truth of the incarnation. He wanted others to share his experience, of gazing on Christ's glory and being progressively changed into His likeness. So he wrote what is in effect a manual for resurrection life; how to live in communion with the Father and the Son.

Over the next few months, I'll be developing a series of blog posts about John's letter, giving helpful background and devotional commentary for your personal use.  The aim is to help you develop your own experiential knowledge of Christ and His Father - to share John's joy!
